Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Glycemic index (GI) is a rating system for evaluating how different foods affect blood sugar levels. This system has been used to select foods and create diets that aim to control obesity, manage diabetes, etc. NutriGenie Glycemic Index Diet software has the glycemic index ratings (low, medium or high) for over 2,500 commonly used food items in its database. This is the most comprehensive glycemic index rating compilation available in any software product. We aggregate GI measurements from the most authoritative sources and normalize the ratings into 3 categories: low, medium and high. Users can assign and modify the ratings for any foods in the NutriGenie database or in their own database. With a single command, the user can see all foods in the appropriate GI category for selection. Menu planning using desirable GI foods has never been easier. Besides evaluating individual foods based on their glycemic index, the software also provides a unique food guide pyramid analysis of user's diet to make sure that it is nutritious and balanced. In addition, millions of well-balanced daily menus can be automatically generated by the software based on user's calorie specification.

4 out of 5 stars Response to D. Dierdorf review   August 3, 2007
10 out of 12 found this review helpful

The product name is misleading? Three simple words 'Glycemic Index Diet' are misleading? What a crock! This person's comment in the NutriGenie Feedback Rating is even more bizarre: "We think the product description is truthful but misleading". If even the truth misleads then God help him.

NutriGenie provides free trial software for evaluation. We advise potential buyers to download it for evaluation before purchasing. Right on this product description page. Why bother with this cautionary suggestion if our intention is to mislead? Still, when people want to make bogus accusation, they'll even indict the truth as misleading.

Software products are not for everyone. Some people have to take classes to learn standard software such as Microsoft Word or Windows. Our specialized nutrition software does require some familiarity with computer use that only 95% or so of the general population possess. We don't pretend to feel bad about this.

Amazon concluded that NutriGenie was not responsible for the claim that this person made. The fact that Dierdorf was happy to be able to extract a refund from Amazon itself shows that he has no sense of fairness to anyone, and to Amazon in particular. So long as it costs others and not himself, he's content. We don't wish him as "customer" to any business.

2 out of 5 stars product description doesn't fit product name   July 20, 2007

The product name is misleading: we assumed that the menus generated by the program would be based on the glycemic index. We found that we would have to generate menus and then edit them for glycemic index. The program is not user-friendly or intuitive in its format, so we contacted the seller for assistance. We got no help and an attitude of, too bad, the product description was accurate, so you can't get a refund. (A refund through Amazon is in the works. Thanks, Amazon!) We would not recommend this product at all.
